My ex once said: I push out the kids, you grow hair on your face. Seemed fair at the time and it's "grown" on me since. So here I am, bearded.

Truth be told, my beard is a sign of my maturity: I've waited _years_ for white hairs. I probably won't see them on by (thinning) head, so I'll have to settle for them to be in my beard. Of which I'm pleased.
